Rest

Relaxation in a vibrant rural environment where you can be present

Peace and silence

Rest at Zvangas is an opportunity to pause, breathe more deeply, and for a moment return to a simpler, more natural rhythm.

There are no televisions here, no rush, and no pressure to keep up. There is nature, a rural environment, food with a clear and conscious origin, movement in fresh air, and space to be with yourself or with those close to you. Those who seek silence and peace can find it here. Those who seek meaningful activities that support physical and inner well-being can also find them here. Zvangas is a place for those who are looking for space for meaningful, calm, and nourishing rest.

Meadows, forests, and the sea

Surrounded by meadows and forests, our farmhouse and guest living spaces are located in a living rural setting. It is an active countryside homestead with its own daily rhythm, inhabitants, and values.

Century-old willows, a traditional barn, and a former livestock building have been transformed into a shed, a stable, and housing for our birds, continuing the rural spirit and breath of this place.

The rocky coastline of the Vidzeme sea lies just 4 km away.
You can learn more about the Zvangas house, its surroundings, and our family’s story in a separate section of the website.

Everything like in the countryside — only better.

The hosts, lifestyle, and attitude

We ourselves live in this place and care for it every day. Being here is at once our work, our way of life, and a lifelong path.

If it feels important for guests and there is a wish, we are open to conversations, sharing experiences, recipes, and perspectives on everyday rural life. At the same time, we fully respect if guests choose privacy, silence, and their own space.

We live on the second floor of the house, while the guest kitchen, bathroom/shower, dining area, relaxation spaces, and sleeping areas are located on the first floor and are arranged exclusively for guests. This means that our paths indoors may not cross at all.

Here, you have the option to take part in rural life if you feel called, or simply to be, rest, and observe life as it unfolds on its own.

Rural environment and opportunities

Our homestead is home to horses, cats, chickens, and geese.

Guests, especially families with children, have the opportunity to get to know everyday rural life — feeding the animals, helping with simple farm tasks, or, in the warmer season, taking part in garden work. It is a calm, simple kind of involvement that allows one to experience the countryside from the inside.

We are a child-friendly farmstead where curious young people are always welcome to join in shared activities around the homestead.

Nearby, along a beautiful forest path, live neighbors who keep goats. From them we buy fresh goat’s milk and cottage cheese, which we also share with our guests.

Bicycles are available for guests, and toys for children. There are wide meadows and forests around for walks, and if there is a wish to go on longer hikes, we are happy to help with preparation.

In the warm season, guests can enjoy a veranda overlooking the apple orchard, a fire pit, and a pond for summer swimming — as well as cold-water bathing for cold-plunge enthusiasts during the colder months.

Kitchen and meals

Guests have access to a spacious kitchen and dining area, fully equipped and intended exclusively for guest use. Fresh drinking water, tea, and coffee are always available.

Breakfast is included in the offering. We serve our neighbors’ goat milk products together with farm eggs, fermented vegetables, and our own baked fermented buckwheat bread.

For an additional fee, a second meal is available, as well as the opportunity to enjoy ceremonial cacao, ground right here at Zvangas.

When our daily rhythm allows, guests are welcome to take part in preparing healthy meals, and we are happy to share recipes, experience, and conversation.

After meeting Uldis Santjago on my path, I have already visited Zvangas twice. Uldis has an exceptional ability to create space — he listens with his heart and soul, welcomes a person exactly as they are, and creates an environment in which one can truly engage in self-discovery. I felt deeply welcomed, safe, and loved.

Continue what you have begun, Uldis. I hope that many people will find their way to Zvangas.

We all present to the world an image we have created for it, yet such lightness enters when we no longer carry that image and dare to reveal our hearts. This stage of the journey is not easy, and thank you for creating a place that supports people on this path. Because when a worldly identity collapses, everything connected to it often collapses as well — at times even family no longer feels like support. People may not yet know their own hearts, nor themselves without roles and masks in the world, and in those moments it is truly precious that we can be there for one another.

If you are seeking a space to heal and reconnect with yourself, nature, and life, this is the place. A place where you can breathe fully again, where food nourishes the soul, and where, through different practices, you return to your essence. In peace and self-acceptance, time begins to slow down, and the rhythm of life once again aligns with the rhythm of your heart. This is something that can only be felt through experience.
